The day began with a skeleton crew composed of D and P for the morning shift. They worked on digging out the upper landing of the Bridge and the path to complete our loop on the West side of the garden, next to the patio. The morning shift ended early as some of us had to go for our day jobs. Late in the morning, Y went around to check the water levels and water the plants. A lot of our trees have a dedicated irrigation system and it was great to see those trees less thirsty than normal on this hot day.
In the evening shift, P and D finished laying out the foundational layer for the Bridge’s upper landing, including gluing some stones above the base layer after leveling.

Upon E’s suggestion, we also decided to include today a brief photo tour/status update of the various sections of the garden.
Our Japanese Maple seems to like its spot. PC: YSThe new Mare’s Tail is starting to peek out of the Upper Pond surface, and the Red Water Lily here has recovered from its initial shock as well. PC: YSDwarf Mugo Pine just went in yesterday, but so far so good. PC: YSMost of our rock plants seem to have stabilized, especially after trimming away spent blooms on some like the Red-Leaved Thrift on the top. PC: YSOur marginals on the Upper Pond’s Bog Shelf that never skipped a beat! PC: YSSedge and Woolly Thymes on the top and Blue Fescues on the bottom of the snapshot, beside the stream are liking where they are! PC: YSThe Blue Globe Spruce has been shifting and settling since early days, and we’re keeping an eye on the Cotoneasters for transplant shock, though they look mostly fine for now.
