Day 28, Friday, June 26, 2026: Extending the path!
The crew awoke to a cooler day in the morning. It would rain at some point in the day, our weather forecast read. Starting around 8 am, P2 worked on readjusting all the path steps now that we had lowered the level of the path in the North. P started down on the East end of the path. Y watered the new plants and then got going on planting two of the three new cotoneasters by the large rocks. D worked on smoothing the dirt along the future pathway over by the newly cleared out South section by the lower pond. Y helped tamp some of the dirt that P worked on putting along the East section of the path to make it flatter. The morning shift ended around 10:30 am as the group dispersed to take care of their respective daily work tasks or errands.

D was spotted back in the garden around 12:30 pm. Talk about commitment!

The rest of us resumed work in the evening shift. P now dug out some of the dirt on the path in order to obtain an even slope and then poured concrete on top. D in the meantime continued to smoothen the far South path. Around 7:15 pm, P reluctantly gave up the work even though it had started raining quite a bit.

During dinner, we saw the biggest rainbow we’ve seen in a while – what a treat!

Our goal over the weekend is to finish up as much of the path as we can on the east side and then move up to the Patio side to complete the rest. We hear that our bridge will be coming on Tuesday, so we will also start building out the base for it. Lots more to do, but we’re getting close!
