Day 24, Monday, June 22, 2026: East side’s terraced!
The crew started the week with some different tasks than we have previously, now that our main water features were complete. P picked up where he left off the landing step by the patio and the upper pond. P2 had the responsibility to change the orientation of our gate where our garden path would begin by the patio in the South side, and help make space for an actual path loop. Y focused on watering the plants, as well as measuring out distance for our garden layout to plot on a digital layout she was preparing for the herbarium plant registry. D had a very important task this day – supervising the excavator helping clean up the east side below our garden, where we had placed a make-shift rock and dirt platform!

One of the first tasks for the excavator was to come around and drop these gigantic drops in the North end of our garden, between the path and the back of the upper rock stack.

By the afternoon, P had completed the bottom step and P2 had wrapped up moving the garden gate. D continued to work with the excavator through the late afternoon until they had removed the old support blocks and placed some large and stable rocks filled in with dirt to finish up the new terrace!

P returned to the garden area in the evening shift and started digging out a path with his shovel. Y completed a manual top view layout of the garden for the herbarium app to lay out plant entries on after trying to get all kinds of digital assistants and GPS coordinates to work – back to good old tape measure (that unfortunately broke!).

Tomorrow, we’ll continue working on our path so that we can start adding more greenery to our garden. Au revoir et à bientôt!
