Day 6, Thursday, June 4, 2026: Rocking it!

The day started a little later at 8 am today. The crew kicked off with their usual stand-up. Given P had a lot of meetings and could spend less than an hour this morning, we decided to focus on finishing up the grass removal as well as lowering the step down from the patio to the garden as the current step seemed too deep and when slippery, could land someone right into the pool. In his short work shift, P shifted the stream embankment as well as added some dirt re-enforcements to give the stream bed a solid structure.

By 10:30, D and P2 had marked out, leveled and filled in the new steps. Y had worked on taking out the grass from the top section of the garden. 

The morning shift came to an end at 11:30 after P2 and D put in another hour of work cleaning up the grass, bringing in a rock hauler as well as placing the globe spruce in its spot within an hour after breakfast. We’d made some solid progress!

For the evening shift that began after 5 pm, D corralled P and Y into compiling an inventory of all the big rocks from the edge of the property.

Thanks to all the carbo-loading in the day, the group was able to huff all the rocks they liked into the back of the mini-tractor, or a wheel barrow for most part.

P was our star lifter and heaved a lot of the big rocks all by himself.

For the gnarly ones that were too big, P and Y or P and D heaved them up the slopes. The biggest one had to be pulled up some treacherous grade and unfriendly terrain on a hand truck.

We were also able to dissuade D and P from acquiring another monolith as everyone was quite tired. In the end, we had collated a pretty good selection of big rocks for our garden.
